Just wondering, but last year one could choose between buying a ticket to the photoshoot with one of the guests or you could pose with them at the signing booth (with a little extra cost for Judge and Sorbo). Most conventions don't allow the latter and I'm grateful Facts hasn't followed in their footsteps yet. I'm just wondering if it'll be the same this year or if you're also planning on only allowing pictures at the photoshoots.

Okay... photoshoot with actors SUCKS! I lost a whole afternoon with those photoshoots. Haven't seen any of the Q&A's. Walking aroud and buy something... well, there was no time for it. Where's the time you could take a pic with an actor at the signingtables? That made FACTS special. Even if we had to pay a little more. Than we had time to walk around. Sorry, but it's the first year it really sucks...

Sometimes you get lucky and you can catch one of the guests as they are coming back from the bathroom for a picture. They're awfully friendly at those times.
In the other cases I've been a bit reluctant to ask. During actual photoshoots there's so many people around wanting the same you need to hurry.

Sorry, but it's the first year it really sucks... I totally agree with that !!!!!! I stayed to 7:30 pm to have finally my photo with Robert picardo. I believe however the printer and the method used by the photographer is not the good one. There is others convention who there are also photoshoot and it's a better organisation !!! For example, at the London con, you buy a ticket in advance on internet. There is a number on every ticket and they call people by number (0 to 20, 20 to 50, etc.....). So,you don't do the qeue for hours. And for the autographs, when you arrived in the convention, you take a ticket with a number near by the stars and it's the same thing than the photoshoot. With this organisation no qeue for hours in every side. So, you can see other stars or buy something. It's really better organisation than this. Ah yes, I have forgot to say that my picture is a little bit vague. It is not really professional !!!

Sorry, but it's the first year it really sucks... I fully agree and no matter how much I love some of the guests, I'm not paying 15 euros extra just for a photograph. That would make 35 - 40€ a guest and that's just way above my budget. I'm not really blaming F.A.C.T.S. since the queus for autographs would probably move faster and all, but still... I was hoping to get a picture of me and Jewel Staite

the queue's at the actors moved much faster thanks to the photoshoots . usually i try to get my pic taken with an actor, this year i was content with a few pictures of them while i was waiting in the queue. more time to shop around like that. although i can understand whats it like for people who lost lots of time at the photoshoots.

I worked as a FACTS volunteer at the photoshoot boot of Aztek-TV and saturday was - we all agree on that - incredibly hectic and we fully understand that it was a hell for those fans that had to wait for hours before their picture was ready.
There are reasons why this took so long, but excuses won't take away the fact that many people lost valuable FACTS-shopping time on saturday.
On sunday, however, we had the SAME photoshoots, and all went incredibly smooth. Up to the point that by the time it was 5 o clock and FACTS was over, all pictures had already been distributed and the majority (if not all) of them was ready within one hour. (To compare: on saturday they were done at 8 and closing time was 6!)
This was done with the same equipment, with the same team, with the same actors, with the same time schedules. (Actually, the sunday held an unexpected surprise: Billie Dee Williams did not show up in time for his shoot at 3PM, instead, he suddenly came in between the A-Team actors and Robert Picardo - yet still we were in time on sunday.)
But we had learned one valuable lesson by then: Do not take pictures at the A-Team van. This was actually what caused the delay on the saturday. Setting up all the camera equipment at the van took too long, it took 15 minutes minimum. The queue for the A-Team actors was also rather huge and by the time we had finished, moving the equipment back also took 15 minutes. (Now, you might say: that distance is covered in 1 minute! True, but this equipment needs to be adjusted after every move as well and I believe some of the flashing devices needed a bit of time to warm up - though I am no expert on that.)
That is where we lost valuable time.
Something else where we made the mistake... At the very beginning of the saturday, some people would start pressuring us that they wanted their picture because they already wanted to leave half an hour after after their picture was taken. We tried to give these people good service at first and print their pictures, but this put many of the other pictures on hold. We lost time there. On Sunday, we made no exceptions. Everyone had to wait their turn, no one could get their picture before the people that had gone before them, and this way, we lost no time with "special cases". The images kept on rolling out of the printer this way and in general, everyone was helped quicker because of this.
Another miscalculation was also how incredibly succesful these photoshoots suddenly were. On the Saturday of FACTS 2010, I believe they already got to the same amount of pictures they had to deal with in FACTS 2009 - for the two days together! This also had to do with the fact that there were many big names at FACTS this year, and I know Aztek-TV was also expecting more people for the photoshoots, but the saturday still blew them away.
I really hope that you will not look back on FACTS with bitter feelings because of this and that you still have some good thoughts of FACTS 2010 that you took home with you. We will try our hardest to avoid the identical issues of the saturday in the future editions of FACTS.
There's still a lot of room for improvement, there is no denying that. But I would say: do not worry too much, the people of Aztek-TV and FACTS were not blind to your discomfort in this matter and will work their hardest to avoid it in the future.

Question: I did the photoshoot, but I forgot to pick up my pictures. Will they appear online somewhere? (like Aztec-tv's website or something?)

Hi, just wanted to say that I LOVED the photoshoots this year at facts. I always prefer to get my pictures taken at a photoshoot in stead of my own camera, for getting nicer and better quality pictures and that's exactly what I got this year. (That's not to say for every convention I've been to). I also loved it that it were full body pics, that's something different. (But it could be that I liked that so much because of the pics with Jewel and Kristanna ;D)
And off course, the lines for the A-team photoshoots were huge, I was glad that I didn't do that photoshoots, but who would have taught Facts would have so many visitors this year on a saturday only...
Anyway: THANKS Cartoonjessie and all other photoshoot people!

Question: I did the photoshoot, but I forgot to pick up my pictures. Will they appear online somewhere? (like Aztec-tv's website or something?) The pictures should be up on Aztek-TV's website in a week or so, it could be a bit more. These pictures are small formats though, good enough for Facebook, but not for printing them out yourself. But I do know that we had 3 pictures left or so of people that were there on saturday, but never came to pick it up. I believe all pictures of the sunday were distributed on time. If you have a picture of yourself on FACTS that saturday (I suppose you were there on saturday?), and you could send it to me along with the names of the actors with whom you took a photo, as well as your e-mail address, I'll get you in touch with Aztek-TV and they will arrange something.

but who would have taught Facts would have so many visitors this year on a saturday only... No one, not even us. You were with soooo many... and that in Gent? And that is also basically the main reason for the corridor problem and long photoshoots which were totally unforeseen and will be surely dealt with in the future.

I think the "doodsteek" for the saturday was the fact that Face and Murdock had been on "De Laatste Show" on the friday. Everyone in the queue for the FACTS pictures was talking about that... I think that without them appearing on the Last Show, I think we would have had a great deal less visitors and less problems with the photoshoot on the saturday.
But at the same time it is also great that FACTS is becoming more popular, it gives us room to grow and to get even more amazing guests for next year!

It appears I posted in the wrong thread. What I meant to ask was whether the photos from the cosplay photoshoot will be uploaded somewhere or not. The photographer showed me some of the pics he took and they looked pretty awesome.
EDIT: yes, they are posting the pics online on the aztec tv website. (I'm going to leave this here should anyone ask the same question)

I was at first a little bit mad that we couldn't take a picture with the actors at their table. So I did the photoshoots. And yes, I lost time and money. But the result was great, even better than I expected. Jewel was the best for the photoshoot. So lovely. I am sure they will deal with the problems we had this year. Maybe trying to lower the price?
There were pro's and contra's at the photoshoots. But I must also say that Cartoonjessie did a wonderfull job at the photoshoot. She explained it very well to the people, be sure the line wasn't in other people's way and had a nice little chat with her. Kudos for Cartoonjessie.

Hello there, I had my picture taken with Mr. Picardo on saturday, but because I couldn't come back on sunday's and I really didn't have time to wait another 2 hours for my picture I asked if it could be possible to send it to me by mail. I gave my adress and paid 5 € shipping cost in advance. Could you tell me if the picture was send indeed, or if it is one of the remaining ones you have left ?

If you paid for it, then it will be sent out. I sent out a mail just now to the people of Aztek-TV, asking if they had already been sent out, then you will know when you can expect it in your mailbox.
There were 3 people that made a picture on saturday, but they did not pay for it to be send out or come back later on the saturday to ask about the picture. So we have 3 pictures that were never picked up, with no contact details of the people that left them. (Also on sunday they were not picked up.)

So I sent a mail to the long haired bum from Aztek-TV (trust me, it's also how he calls himself) and got a reply. About the pictures that will be sent out by postThis task was given to one of the crew members of Aztek-TV, and though I still need official confirmation (and I will try to get it tomorrow), the long haired bum said that - knowing his friend - it would already be in the mail and should arrive shortly. I'll update more on that as soon as I know more. Edit: UPDATE! Pictures will be sent out tomorrow, on thursday. :-) So they should all arrive next week. About the pictures on the websiteFor this moment, you can already find all pictures with the actors from the saturday - EXCEPT for the A-team actors - online: www.redcathedral.be/aztek-tv/gallery/people/cosplay/2010/facts/factsxx.htmThese are small versions which you find on the site. You can save them and upload them to Facebook, Hyves, etc... (That's what they're for.) When will the rest of the pictures follow?Tomorrow is another day and the uploading will probably continue then. But for this weekend, there will be no updates as the people of Aztek-TV will be headed to another convention. In total, there were 2800 pictures taken at the booth which will be uploaded. Then there were a 1000 or so pictures taken by fellow-photographers from Aztek-TV near the cosplay stage and at other places around the con. I'll update as soon as I know more!
