 Mac + FACTS forum
« Thread Started on Oct 14, 2009, 1:14pm »

Hey guys,

I bought a Macbook pro recently and the F.A.C.T.S forum is one of the topsites i visit. Now there is a little problem that occurs when i use my mac in stead of my pc.

When opening a topic on the main page (F.A.C.T.S Convention) in a new tab using the command key, something odd happens. The topic opens up in a new tab (like it should), but the current tab opens the userpage of the moderator.

For example: when trying to open ‘General area 51’ in a new tab, I get Mr. Facts’ userpage in the current tab.

This occurrence happens both in Safari as in Firefox and it only happens on the main page.

Apparently it’s caused by the javascript on this page.

Code:
<td class="windowbg2"…..
onclick="if(!pb_bubble)location.href='/index.cgi?board=selltrade';
…>

<a onclick="pb_bubble=1" href="/index.cgi?board=selltrade">

The second onclick doesn’t get activated, which causes the first if test to become true. By deleting the onclick-event in ‘windowbg2’ the link still worked, but the annoying current tab change staid out.

Enjoy

PS: if this isn't the right topic, please move it ^^.

I dont think you people read my first post in detail. heh

On mac it occurs in safari AND firefox. ^^ And i said that on my normal pc (where i use firefox of course) it didn't happen.
It's not a gigantic problem. But it's quite annoying to push the back button on the main page each time i open a new tab.

for some odd reason when i click on the thread, it sometimes gets me to the userpage of the first moderator that's in the thread at first i thought i just clicked wrong, but it has happened quite a few times already, so i'm going to pay more attention to it!

and i use a pc and firefox :)

i'll ask some of the mac users in my class tomorrow if they ever heard something like that.

People..... PLEASE read my comments a bit more clearly

It happens on the main page of the forum only.
It has nothing to do with macs or browsers. It's just a wrong feature in javascript.

I'm not clicking wrong or seeing things. ^^ I just asked my class to go to the forum to try it. More then half got the it.

Anyways, lovely site/forum admin, please fix it. ^^ My first post helps you on your way.

Not really. *laughs*

I changed my forum browsing on the facts-forum to "right-click - select 'open in new tab' " Or if i use my normal ways of forum browsing, i immediatly hit the "back" button so the page doesn't even change anymore.

It keeps a person active, i guess. ^^
