It would be so nice if we could meet the factsguys just for once! Just to give our suggestions and remarks. Could they not organize one little meeting where they can listen to us, just for an hour or two. It would be so great. You could do that through the fanclubs, although this year it seems they're waiting kinda long to call the first meeting. I'll ask around.

Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy are Animé-games, so they belong to the catagoty "Animé".

For you, the anime-category is where you belonged and will belong as the character from KH, while the person from FF VII was placed in the wrong category.

Well, I looked at Ebay (www.ebay.com) for you searching for "Star Wars Mask" and I got results. Maybe you should try that or the best thing is also to contact our friend Serge Brosskopf. He knows alot about cosplay. Send him a PM.

For the mask: internet. Like Usaki already said: E-bay is a good shot. For the force-pike: you can't but that prop. You'll need to build it yourself. Using wood and ornaments for curtain rods may already give you what you need.
Since I have no experience with this particular, I can't help thàt much. You may want to use google to find tutorials on this costume, or at least on the force-pike.

hello everybody!! I introduce myself ;i'm Christophe from France and i will go to the FACTS with a great pleasure for the first time . I 'm a great fan of LOTR and i made an elven costume that i have already worn for 3 conventions and i would like to know if there is a possibility to participate to the cosplay contest ?is there a category for my costume ? I have a "bad " experience on the last star con in Gent ,because the cosplay was quite "ridiculing" for a "serious" costume (it (s not an anime costume ,you know certainly):techno music, need to make the show ...and finally the jury didn't make any attention to the quality and the work of the costume ...So do you know if this contest is the same here ? or is there a possibility to show the costume with sobriety .. I ask it to you because it doesn't matter for me to participate or no,i will bring my costume in our car (little car and big cotume! )anyway and i can wear it out of the competition,no? Thank you and i'm very sorry for my english!

The organisers of the New Star Con did what they could in regard to the cosplay contest, which you can't compare to FACTS. And they díd take quality in regard, which I noticed when I participated on sunday. They only had to deal with only a handful of participants, all in one group.
In fact, a whole lot of people compare the first Belgian edition of the NSC to FACTS and conclude that FACTS is better because it's bigger, attracts more people etc etc etc... This comparison is something I don't like to make, because: FACTS already has had 15 editions, compared to the NSC which had its 1st in Belgium. The organisers had absolutely no clue as to where to turn to for promotion, fan clubs and such. It is only obvious that they were unable to draw as much people compared to the much more experienced FACTS-crew. They also suffer from lies and counter-commercials spread by their former partners, who're now organising the Dutch Star Con. It's a pretty childish affair, of you ask me.
As a result of all that: the cosplay-contest can't be compared between both conventions. Due to the limited amount of participants, NSC was forced to put everyone into one category. FACTS has plenty of cosplayers and thus different categories. For a LOTR-costume, "fantasy" would be the category you need and you can subscribe for the contest through the site.
You can also wear the costume as much as you like, regardless of whether you participate in the contest or not.

@finicia: You make a lot of costumes! They are pretty Why does the FACTS organization not ask from the costume clubs to point some people which organize the costume contest? I think there a lot of cosplayers who want's to make the costume contest better. Then the organizers have more time for the convention itself.. ?

BVC is handling it again and they're going to try to improve it.
Letting a costume club handle it is tricky. When I look at my own club, I know we're so d**n busy trying to get things built/organsied, that we can't spare time to organise the contest. Secondly, when a costume club would handle the organisation, you might get trouble with other clubs, who'd claim the contest was biased. It's already pretty tricky as it is.

It's not BVC who is handeling it, It's Elenor this year. If you enter the cosplayµcontest online, you'll see that's Elenor. It's not even know if BVC will be present at F.A.C.T.S. this year.

No, I was at the meeting and there BVC explicitly said they are looking into it. However, they aren't handling the online inscriptions, since they don't have control over the website. Those simply get passed on to them.

Correct. BVC is handling the cosplay contest now. At the time the online-inscription pages were put on the site, there were talks that Eleanor would do them but it's now BVC who will take care of it.
The list of cosplayers will indeed be passed on to the BVC people.

Maybe it's a idea to let Anthony Daniels do the presentation from the cosplaycompo. I've already seen him doing it at an other convention, and he did it very good.
