yup NEWSFLASHDave Gibbons will be sitting in the booth of "De Vliegende Hollander" (publisher The Flying Dutchman) where he will be signing the Dutch translation of "Martha Washington". www.uitgeverijdevliegendehollander.nl/english.asp"Martha Washington" will be coming out in the Dutch language in three parts, chronicling the birth, rise and death of Martha. The story is set in a dystopian near-future where the United States have split into several extremist factions, and tells the story of Martha Washington, a young American girl from a public housing project called "The Green" (see Chicago's Cabrini-Green). The series starts with Martha's birth and sees her slowly grow up from someone struggling to break free of the public housing project, to being a war hero and major figure in deciding the fate of the United States. The series was a mix of Frank Miller's typical action sequences as well as being a political satire of the United States and its major corporations. The series proved to be a huge success for Dark Horse and was one of the biggest selling independent comics of the time. Miller followed up Give Me Liberty with several sequels continuing the story. All of these sequels were drawn by Dave Gibbons and published by Dark Horse.

Wow this will be the best FACTS in ages! Two great actors who I love and then this! Unlike most of you, I got to know him through the old game Beneath A Steel Sky which he worked on back in 1993 and I'll take the comic that came with the game to get it signed. I was crazy about his art style back then, before I had even heard of Watchmen.

I guess the line for Dave Gibbons will be the longest we will ever for an artist.

Buy the Dutch version or this huge package? Both. ;D (I think I'll be buying the big honkin' 600-page-giant. I've seen it for sale online at a... erm... certain Dutch mail-order-comicbook-selling-site for about 22€, that's insane for the amount of awesomness you'll be getting.)

Heh heh... guess which brand-spanking-new book I'm holding in my hands right now, Boom? ;D
Oh, and by the way... I never read any Martha Washington books before, because it didn't grab me at the time, and it would be a nightmare trying to find back issues and such... but now this book came out collecting every Martha Washington story ever, and it is awesomely good: it's about 600 pages of stupid scifi and pulp action, intelligent political satire, loads... and I mean LOADS!!!... of extra commentary, production notes, sketches and illustrations by Gibbons and Miller. It's a loveletter to the comics medium!
(And at 22€, it's just silly NOT to buy it!)

Some news on sketches, prices and the artists: Dave Gibbons will be doing no commissions but sketches: "This year I charged €50 for an inked head shot and €100 for an inked full figure." Aside from that he is doing free sketches. facts.be/guestshtml/fa_davegibbons.html

well if there is one thing I know of the publisher who is partnering with FACTS, who financially supports Dave Gibbons, who is coming to the show and will have Gibbons in their OWN booth, is that it would be STUPID to have him have anything other then their OWN publications in THEIR booth... like Watchmen and the debut of Martha Washington for instance... HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAA SOrry... giving you an answer like that made me VERY happy Having said that: www.cheap-comics.com/ is also coming to FACTS
