There is one artist I really want to meet. And why I never asked him, I have no idea. Mark CrilleyHe is a manga artist, not from Japan, but from the US. And since many people want a manga artist to visit, he would be a great choice and I'm a huge fan of him. He is the creator of Akiko, Miki Falls and Brody's Ghost. He is also noted for his instructional videos for drawing in the manga-style. Wich makes even me draw some nice drawings. (And I can't draw) His last book is a 'how to draw manga' book, named 'Mastering Manga'. His latest video is one of his best where he draws one of my favorite styles, Steampunk. And I even asked him if he would be interested to be invited. And he even replied in his latest 'Message to My Subscribers' video to my question. Go to 7:45 for my question and his anwer. I know the artist alley for this year is quite full, but it would be great to have him at the convention. Joe Benitez and Peter SteigerwaldPeter Steigerwald is an American comic book artist primarily known for his work as a colorist and his work at Aspen Comics. Joe Benitez is an American comic book artist best known for his newest creator-owned comic book series Lady Mechanika. Would love to meet these guys. Along with Dark Horse Star Wars comics, Aspen comics are my favorite comics to read. And their latest series Lady Mechanika is simply amazing. But also the other comic series are top reads. Fathom that got me into Aspen comics, Soulfire and Executive Assisstant are my favorites. Others are Shrugged, Broken Pieces, Charismagic, The Scourge, Dellec, Haunted City,Dead Man's Run and Mindfield. And the yet to release comic Idolized. There are also known for making limited covers to there comics for each convention they visit. So a limited Lady Mechanika FACTS edition would be sweet. ;D And for each convention this year they made the same print of Aspen surfing with for each con a different bath suit. Boom already knows this, since he also liked the comment on facebook. In responce to Gunther comment (FACTS visitor and Aspen fan): "OMG! Come to Belgium for F.A.C.T.S.! Please! That is SO aswesome!" he anwsered following, Peter Steigerwald: "I'd love to go. I think you need to start a petition for F.A.C.T.S. to extend an invitation!" He asked for one, so here is it. Seven have signed so far. But with the support of Archonia (Thanks Gunther K.) and Popcul (Thanks Wade W.) more will following, I hope. Both have put it on their facebook page. ....since the launch of our new dealerssite last friday another 10 artists (some new ones) have already subscribed. Couldn't agree more I couldn't disagree more, are sketches really that necessary for each artist? Why not have a well known comic artist come here, sign comics for a while and have him/her do a Q&A, talking about the creation of their characters, what they'll do in the future, ... (I don't really know Capulco, but to me Todd McFarlane comes to mind, I know I already suggested him). But I could very well be the only one who thinks that. |
