Nice choices Boom-Boom...
I am a Marvel and DC comics collector myself, been collecting for decades now and am closing in on about 5.000 comics, a lot from 1960 to 1980.
I don't buy a lot of Marvel these days, but I do like Vertigo...
This year I'm going to FACTS because I really want to see if any other Belgian has a large collection such as mine...I really want to meet a like-minded soul ;D

Is this real ?? I never seen anybody in Belgium with such a collection Actually, I have. In fact, quite some of my distinguished colleagues have an extensive collection. My wife and I have around 10.000 comics (9653 according to my ComicBase). Of course, it's not really the number of comics that matters, but rather what exactly is in there. After all, some comics are worth more than my whole collection together. And then there's also the personal value a comic can hold. Some of my favourite comics are not necessarily the ones that are worth the most. I looked through the pictures and I have to admit it's a very nice way of displaying your comics. However, I'm not convinced that it's the safest way to stock your comics in the long run. They seem to be rather open to dust and light. All my comics are bagged (the more valuable ones are boarded too. By preference, I use UltraPro material) and kept in medium size boxes from CollectorLine (I prefer these over the Comic Defense ones). I also put a backing board on each end of the box to close it off and to avoid that light gets to the comics at the end. Next time I borrow the digital camera from work, I'll have to take some pictures (still need to take some of my G.I. Joe collection too). www.collectorline.demon.co.uk/As for new comics we're buying these days, here's an overview: - Amazing Spider-Man - Astonishing X-Men - Avengers - Cable/Deadpool - Captain America - Captain America & The Falcon - Daredevil - Excalibur - Exiles - Fantastic Four - Gambit - Hulk - Iron Man - Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe - Punisher - Rogue - Spectacular Spider-Man - Supreme Power - Thor - Thunderbolts - Tomb of Dracula - Ultimate Nightmare - Ultimate Elektra - Ultimate Spider-Man - Ultimate X-Men - Uncanny X-Men - Venom Vs. Carnage - Wolverine - Wolverine: The End - X-Force - X-Men - X-Men: The End - Astro City - Superman - WE3 - G.I. Joe - G.I. Joe: Master & Apprentice - Transformers & G.I. Joe - The Darkness - Tomb Raider - Witchblade - We were also buying a lot of Crossgen titles, but I guess we can forget about those now.

Well I got three emails with questions about my site/collection in the last 4 days, so I thought something was strange as my web-page has never been advertised or linked to (AFAIK)... so when somebody told me I was mentioned on this chatboard, the penny dropped ;D Anyway, I'll quickly answer the questions here instead of writing emails... My collection is about 8000 - 9000 comics large, no definitive number as I buy and sell comics daily. The collection was at its biggest in 2003 when I had about 15.000 comics, but then I decided to sell most of the comics from 1985 to 2000... In about a month's time I'm planning another sale, trying to get the total down to about 7500... I don't buy a lot of new comics anymore, maybe 5-6 a month and apart from maybe 1000 comics from 2000 onward (I was more impressed with "New Marvel" than anything they put out in the preceding 15 years) all my other comics are from 1960 through to 1985 (almost all Marvel and DC) Every comic in my collection is bagged and boarded, I also have about 500 comics which I keep in Mylar bags with archival boards, but I only go to that expense for comics which are worth $50.00 or more. On said note, anybody have a EUROPEAN source for Mylar (or Mylites) ? They cost a fortune to have them shipped from Bill Cole in the US. Unfortunately most of the Belgian comic shops haven't even HEARD of Mylar Most of my expensive comics ($200+) are CGC encased, as they are commodities next to collectibles. But I do have readers copies of every comic I have in a CGC case. Nice of LittleWolvie to worry about the light in the comics room, but rest assured apart from every comic being bagged and boarded, there is also no danger of fading due to light exposure. The unit I had made to store my comics in is a lot deeper than the width of your average comic, so they are safe and snug in the shadow of the overhanging shelf. I fact I have to pull out the boxes close to the edge of the unit and focus all kinds of lights on the boxes to be able to make photographs at all. I also tend to agree with the poster who stated that the most expensive comic is not always your most valuable possesion...I own the odd expensive comic and some nice Marvel 70's original art, but if my house was on fire the first thing I would grab would probably be my beat-up copy of Marvel Treasury #7 as it was the first comic I ever bought... I have 5 copies of Incredible Hulk #181, saving them for a rainy day or as trade for some deal, but I have no love for the book at all... Having said all this, nice to see some more collectors coming out of the woodwork, especially Silver and Bronze Age collectors

Is that Hulk drawn by Deodato, dude? We are talking about a Silver Age comic here, and more precisely the first (full) appearance of Wolverine. I'm not even sure Deodato Jr. was already born when this comic came out. It was written by Len Wein, while the art was done by Herb Trimpe/Jack Abel. However, while we're talking about a $1.000+ comic here (in NM condition), I've to agree with Chromium when he says this is actually not a very spectacular issue. While I'm not as fortunate to have an original copy, I have the Wizard Ace reprint and a French translation. Based on those, I have to agree that this is actually a pretty poor comic. But it's still the first appearance of Wolvie and that makes it a must have for a lot of people.

= do not take any comments seriously as I am joking heavily! ;D I know this and I was just pulling the leg of my friend, Chromium!! He is always talking about his spandex-comics and I am harassing him with my BadGrrl-tastes in comics... opposites attract though but beyond that we have more things in common...we both live near a butcher ;D

I know this and I was just pulling the leg of my friend, Chromium!! That explains a lot! (I was starting to worry there for a second). No butcher near where I live, but I do share Chromium's taste for spandex.

I have about 4000 comics. I've posted my collection in another thread somewhere around here www.brainfreeze.be/comics/ ---> Thats a list of them with Collectorz software, but its not a complete one. Chrome, your way of showing them in a box with the logo on is GREAT. Really love that style, which kind of storage box do you use for that? I don't have a big Silver Age list of comics. altho am trying to get Volume 2 and Volume 3 of Green lantern as complete as possible. Its my new Goal in Comic Collecting. (just started this week with Vol 2/Vol3) My previous one was getting Transmetropolitan in Singles, and that goal was achieved in 2 years. Chrome, i might contact you in the near future. Am presenting GEEK POWER, a brand new TV show on GUNKTV (for Telenet Digital Viewers only) full of Comics, Sci-Fi, Boardgames and everything us geeks think is fun
