Just saw the new 2006 poster! While I appreciate the sentiment and atmosphere it tries to project, it may be a bit misleading. You'd think that we're talking about a comics convention, while we all know the pickings in this section of the con are pretty slim. It's just a sign of the times, you know, the industry used to be much stronger than it is now. It's no fault of the con team that not more comic dealers are present. You can't drag 'em in by the hairs. Or could we....? But this is definitely a comic con poster. So hopefully, the supply of comics this year will be plentiful. Luckily, the text points people in the right direction. A second remark, and don't shoot me for this, as an old comic devourer I can easily tell from which series, scenes and characters the ones depicted on the poster are copied off. I much preferred the previous one, which clearly showed a professionally rendered Batman and the likes. Again, I like the mood of the concept, I love Golden Age Marvel and DC, but it's close but no cigar. But, this is only my personal opinion, so I'm sure others might be disagree strongly. I have already painted a large bullseye on my chest so you can commence firing at will! ;D ;D ;D

congrats with the new poster but personally Toyzilla is correct , it looks more for a comic convention, it isn't really my style

You'd think that we're talking about a comics convention, while we all know the pickings in this section of the con are pretty slim. Just to prove that we're serious about the Comics section, we'll announce next weekend three comic artists around one theme. One of them has a high cult status while the others although relativily unknown in our parts, do a perfect job in bringing an unusual comic hero back to life. And let's hope those dealers bring loads of comics. If any of those comic dealers read this forum : bring more TPB's.

When you lift that particular sentence out of my message, it's sounds so harsh! Hope I didn't offend, Mr. Facts. And to show you my undying support, I'll be bringing quite a fair share of vintage comics at my booth. Glad to be of service! And also good to hear that we'll be seeing more comic artists. Give us a clue! Silvestri ? Lee ? Or my alltime favourite, Romita Jr. ?

YES!!!! ..GIVE US HINTS!!! ...very curious about the comicartists!!!!
+ I personally do not agree with Toyzilla ..Facts is a very decent/good comic convention. I have been to a lot of comic conventions the past 15 years, and this is (in my opinion) one of the better comic conventions around. Good stands, big artists and a lot of fun stuff to see!

I've to disagree with Toyzilla. I know you didn't mean it bad, but still. I for one fully support this new flyer. Heck, many of us comic fans have been complaining for years that our medium didn't get enough attention at FACTS. Now that the FACTS people are giving us more attention, we would still be complaining? One thing is clear, FACTS is doing all it can to support the medium. The rest is up to us fans and dealers. But I think that if the fans are there, the dealers will follow. After all, they mostly care about the pockets. And if people want comics again, that's what they will bring.

Little Wolvie i agree with you with some points, but for a con where you could have seen George Perez , don't you think Tucci is [moderator's edit : inappropriate language] I just hope the two or three who will be annonced will be great...

aaa
I reread and reread this stuff you wrote down and am baffled!!
It all boils down to personal taste ofcourse, but the work he has been doing with SHI has set standards in the comicbusiness...
Tucci is highly regarded amongst all the A-players and calling him a loser in public is totally uncalled for...
And his work for Marvel (Heroes for Hire) is just stunning!!
But still...that is a matter of taste!

will you have a booth? whaddareyou selling, comicwise? I'll have a booth, as usual. I'm selling mostly Marvel and DC. Though I loved reading them, I rarely re-read, so what a shame to leave them stored in boxes. I'll have a couple of hundred of Spiderman, Batman, Detective Comics, Punisher, Iron Man, etc.

...am I the only one still waiting for hints?? Hint? We didn't say we were giving hints for the artists. ;D Well, the famous one co-created with another famous comic-artist previously on F.A.C.T.S., a very famous comic hero with whom you certainly don't want to mess around.

If we don't request everyone to like our guests, we do know for a fact that some actually check out this forum and, consequently, we request you to remain polite towards them. Besides, we already had the pleasure to welcome Mr. George Perez in the past.

I agree it's "uncalled for", but Boomboom has an important point: it's all up to personal taste. I might strongly disagree with Preacher ( and I do), but why not let the man voice his opinion? I would have chosen different words to express myself, but most of the worst ones don't even get through the automatic censor, anyway. I'm sure Tucci's been called worse, and just laughs at all this. Not all fans live by strict etiquette rules. Otherwise we'll end up with the following: I personally ( deleted) that ( name removed) is the biggest ( edited) I've ever seen! Btw: by starting a chain of comments on this first remark and editing it, you might even draw attention to a post most of us might never have noticed. Remember: once you say to people they cannot have something, they'll be dying to know more about it. Wouldn't you? It's a fine line between editing and overlaying personal tastes on others. This might be a sore point for me, being a writer, but I've been edited before at times when it wasn't called for. But I'm sure many might disagree.... (and I'll support that right all the way) PS: if nobody had objected to Rushdie's book, it would have disappeared quickly, being one of the most sleep-inducing tomes you'll ever encounter! The book is a (deleted) (edited) (removed)! ;D

Censor me if you want it's your problem. My opinion is my own,but still i know the man for a matter of a fact that i've been working for him with a friend in Angoûlème in 1998. I know how he works and how he treats people. I can't tell here what's been happening to me there but it's not good... But if he's fine by you okay,I don't care, i just expect to see someone else there (i hope, and a lot of people too because like me they don't appreciate the man nor the art).

Someone said he laid out standards to comicdom i would say to boredom. This guy is a billionnaire what does he care about art,you make me laugh!! The only caracter he likes is Daredevil, and he never asks a Marvel Editor to do something with this caracter. And with his SHI caracter he never had the success he wish to have. Ten years out of business and so ...welcome back,it's too easy for me. The only credit he might have is he gave the first job to J G Jones (that man can do things...).

An A player is for me Ivan Reis,Jim Lee,Liam Sharp,Simon Bisley,John Byrne... And talking about indies guys...David Mack and Dave Sim ARE A Players.

It's not because I defended your right to an opinion, that you have to bring out the big guns and go all Rambo on us. Time to check your medication, my friend! Whenever I defend someone here, I wind up getting bitten in the @ss. From now on you're on your own, dudes. Peace!

To be honest I am quite dissappointed in the list with names ..there are no big (or interesting) names in it ..will there be more artists announced, or is this it?? -Bill Tucci, nice if you like his art, but his time was ten years ago. -Pat Mills ..is a writer, so no nice sketch I liked his Slaine work a lot, but mostly because of the Art... -LeRoux ..french artist (but the French comic/art collectors that I know never heard of him) ..but not really impressed.. -Spider Guile is a very nice guy, but no comic artist. I have met him several times at conventions (also waiting) in a row/ the line. His sketches and other work can be shown on CAF (http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryDetail.asp?GCat=4997). The guy likes to draw super hero stuff and hopes to become a comic artist some day ..Sorry, but if he is a comic artist, so am I! I am sorry if I sound negative, but I am just very dissappointed ..I expec6ted more after last year (Romano, Liam Sharp and even Joe Jusko was on the list ..those are names that make a lot of people happy). In my opinion Bill Tucci is the only 'real' comic artist in the current list. Hopefully we will see more artists at Facts 2006..
