This is sooo cool, I just had to let you all know!!
Sheena #1 Step by Step Tutorial
In response to a lot of inquiries as to my working methods, I've decided to document this piece from start to finish. Hope this helps answer any questions as to how I work in acrylics. I've tried to include as much detailed info as possible. Unfortunately, the images loaded in reverse, and the "Sort Order" feature is malfunctioning whenever I try to re order them, so you'll have to read the gallery from the last page forward. Enjoy!

TA- DAAAAAAA!!!! The finished painting! I addressed the jaguar's gaze by painting in a butterfly at the last minute. It solves the problem without being too distracting, and also gives the cat a little personality at the same time. I draped a couple more vines round the top and had earlier added a couple of hanging vines in the space behind the tree branch on the right and the massive tree faded into the background to add another layer to the piece. Jungles are so dense that I could have kept doing that forever.I so had to resist the urge to add a monkey or two or a snake, but that steps into the realm of overworking an idea. You have to know when to stop. I STILL wanna add that d**n monkey, though! LOL I love the way this piece came out, though there are things I would have done differently under other circumstances. For one, I would have loved to mist out and obscur each successive layer, to really give the impression of a humid, wet tropical environment, but that probably wouldn't pop out on a comic rack, I chose to stay commercial instead of going "artistic". LOL This is easily one of my favorite pieces I've ever done. 18"x28" This actually a digital photo. I'll be posting a repro quality scan when I get a transparency shot tomorrow.
