You have a good suggestion although difficult and expensive to organise. I've been to a LOTR exposition in London once where they used a blue screen to have a picture taken of you with a LOTR background. I may have a suggestion concerning that issue... you see, I started a course at Syntra Hasselt this year - Special Effects. They invested in motion capturing software, the suits, the green screen ... the whole lot. So maybe, they'd be interested to come around and show the FACTS-visitors what green screen is all about. There's also a course in game design, 3D and 2D.

It may even be an idea to get in touch with people from WETA Workshop, since I know they will be in Europe for that period and would be quite eager to show some material because of the upcoming release of "The Hobbit". It's also a good point to get projection back up for this year, since people who are doing the demonstration or mini-workshop can show off their artwork in front of an audience on the big screen. Hands-on workshops and things to do are always a good way to attract more people.

I was thinking about Live Art Jams: guest artists doing live sketches, and the whole thing filmed and projected onto a large screen. Sometimes there'll be "draw-offs": two artists draw a certain subject as fast as possible... but I have a soft spot for artists letting their creative juices flow while a DJ or band plays on stage. Here's a nice example of a Live Art Jam at the Stripdagen in Turnhout. Spinvis was playing live on stage, while artists such as Serge Baeken, Kim Duchateau, Floor De Goede, Conz and LECTRRR!!! were drawing their interpretation of the songs...

That almost sounds like a live, improvised version of Disney's "Fantasia" where the animators were asked to draw their interpretations of classical pieces. My only feeling towards it would be: Awesome.

Although I support the suggestion and contacting the Sparkling Potpourri crew might be a good idea, I do recall the Flanders Expo having an exclusive permit for catering in their own buildings. I would like to emphasize the need for a larger Q&A space this year. There were a few dozen people seated in the Q&A area last time and it was already packed, especially during the panels with Dirk & Dwight and Robert & Jewel. I do expect a considerable audience with Torri and Charisma as well, something that will support 75-100 people would be enough. The reason there aren't any seats in the cosplay area is mostly because it would dramatically reduce the stage's capacity in the same area. Sure, I'd like a few seats as much as you do, but that would mean the cosplay stage capacity would drop from an audience of 2000 (which is what it was last time) to about 500-800 seats in the same area. Obviously, the ideal case would be to allocate more surface area to the cosplay stage, but that would be too demanding on the infrastructure at this time and would also mean there is less dealer space available. I will continue to call for feedback and try to make the stage experience as enjoyable for everyone as possible. Within the means that are available, of course.

I have a suggestion for the forum.. at every end of the year, archive all the old posts.. (that period it's not very busy at the forum) and it would make everything much neater and easier.. Right now I come back to the forum (like every september) and I need to swim through old threads that have been bumped though are no longer relevant... Just saying, a cleanup would be nice. (and old threads can still be revisited for the people who find the need)

What about bringing a little bit more attention to games? Because I'm mainly a gamer, and I write for a little Dutch blog that handles games so if some developers will have a booth here on FACTS, it would be amazing.

OK, I just watched the official trailer, and here's a suggestion: Stop mis-spelling COSPLAY. I don't know who ever started writing it with an apostrophe, but it's wrong. Some people seem to be consistently misspelling it, and I have to admit, having speling mistakes in your official media can look a little... unprofessional.

First thing that comes to mind is... this forum. I didn't know there was a forum untill I looked trough all the links on the main page and saw a small community link. Also when I browsed the forum and looked at some posts I noticed that alot of the content is about previous FACTS. Perhaps make temporary forums for Facts 2011 and archive those as read only when facts 2012 enters planning stages? Regards, Nick

That was a typo, and probably caused by a malfunctioning keyboard. But why people keep consistently mis-spelling 'cosplay' is still beyond my comprehension. I do agree with a forum cleanup, though. Personally, I'd like to see the message boards move over to another host, which doesn't restrict everyone to using English and is free of advertisements. The suggestion to lock all threads related to past FACTS events is also a good one. It would prevent people from bumping threads which have no meaning for the upcoming FACTS anymore.

I'm very much in favor of everyone using English to be honest. I hate how I have a hard time understanding some things at German con boards and that's why I don't spend much time there. I'm not sure how many non Dutch people are on the forum, but I'm quite sure they'd feel the same if we switched to Dutch (not to mention I prefer to use English on the Internet anyway). Well, that's just my opinion

I concur. English is the way to go. I'm dutch, but hardly use it on the internet.
