I Am Legend is actually the only movie at the moment at the cinema that I wanna see at the moment. But in a couple of weeks one movie will change that all... Alien vs Predator: Requiem. ^^

Oh yes i've seen the trailer of 30 days of night, that will be indeed very good. It seems to me that 2008 will be filled with blood; AVP 2, 30 days of terror, the return, Cloverfield, . . No seriously i think 2008 wil be a good year filled with lots of awesome movies

Wednesday evening I finally went to see 30 Days Of Night.
It was the first screening over here, and compared to the rest of the civilized world it was hopelessly late, mostly because they need several versions for Belgium: English with French subtitles, English with Dutch subtitles, and the obligatory French dubbed version… ugh. Yaay for living in a bilingual country.
Turnout was sadly a bit disappointing: 15 people in a 130-people-max-theatre... On an opening night... Argh indeed. I was the first person in the theatre, and the last one to leave, of course. Teehee.
Goosebumps the size of small pingpong balls seeing Ben and Steve’s names in the opening credits (or was it the end credits?), seriously. I’ve been a follower of both for a long time, so this was a treat, although I was a bit afraid I’d be disappointed, because I really REALLY wanted to like it so very much… and, no, it probably won’t win any Oscars, but I’m happy as f**k to see how well their work translated to the big screen. They fleshed out the characters and de-compressed the story where needed, while staying true to the original concept, atmosphere, and visual style. And that visual style is what attracted me to the 30DON-concept in the first place: I absolutely adore Ben’s art (and writing!), and seeing that he himself was pleased with how it turned out was a seal of approval for me. Visually, it’s stunning: very stylized, minimal, dark and cold and distant… the soundtrack is perfect: there’s the occasional piece of music, but there’s so many sounds, static and noise, patterns… there’s a scene where there’s just an electronic “BWAAARP!” every five seconds! Me likey! In the original comic, Ben wrote the words “badass time” in the panel where Eben comes out of hiding to confront the vampires (after he, you know, “changes”)… I’m practically positive that Slade, the director, wanted this scene to express the exact same emotion: Eben trudges through the snow, center-screen, tragic and iconic at the same time, not taking any nuts anymore, willing to give up everything, EVERYTHING, for his people, and the speakers are blasting these slow but explosive, tribal, pounding drums… it was a f**king testosterone/adrenaline thingytail, no slice of lemon, no little umbrella, and you have to EAT your GLASS afterwards!!! RAAARGH!!!
Surprising to me was the fact that they kept the ending: it’s not happily-ever-after, it’s hard and tragic, and it shows the love Eben and Stella had and apparently still have for each other, while also showing the hate and rage Stella now has inside of her.
Erm, what else? … Acting was good, special effects top notch, didn’t catch any cameos, end credits made me cream my pants. The end.
Thanks Ben and Steve.
Hugs 'n kisses, Art

AVP2-REQUIEM i saw it last night in avant-première and it was sweet. The crap they write to bring it down is b*lls**t. If you're an fan of the first moment, it's gonna live up to your expectations. The only thing bad is that the last half hour the movie gets in a higher gear while it was already fast. The predator get's a lot up close-ups and screenplay while the aliens are more snapshots. Not bad the directors wanted to relive the moments from aliens and they did in a way. There are a bunch of scenes that remind you of the second movie. But go and see, i won't tell a thing more. Be prepared, you're in the middle of it

Today I have been to the cinema and I have gone watching AVP2. It was a good movie. Darker than the previous one, more action, more blood, more horror. Loved it. Especially the Predator was nice to watch.

What a big loss, i loved his movie where he played the noble knight Lichtenstein in a knight's tale i believe also the movie brokeback mountain wasn't bad at all. and don't forget Casanova in wich he played magnificently.
Nevertheless when someone dies at that young age even if he's not a celebrity it's always a shame. I wil shure mis him.

There's actually quite a lot of "genre" pics coming up this year which could be interesting. The new Batman, of course, which will take on an even grimmer undercurrent because of Heath Ledger's death. The Ironman movie. A second Hulk movie. A second Hellboy movie. A live action Dragon Ball movie. A new Star Trek movie. A remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still. A remake of Death Race 2000. A remake of Day Of The Dead. A third Mummy movie. A sequel to The Lost Boys (after over 20 years!). A new Miyazaki movie. And there's also talk of a Persuaders remake, a Knight Rider remake and a live action/CGI Thundercats movie. But in spite of all that, the one I'm really watching out for this year (particularly as a Lovecraft fan) is this no-budget, '30s-styled adaptation of The Whisperer In Darkness, made by a couple of fans out of their own allowances: www.cthulhulives.org/Whisperer/trailer.html

I am waiting for the second Hellboy (Hellboy and the golden army) from some time. The First date they say was May 2007, then they changed it to May 2008 and now they again changed it to September 2008. Pity. Butt maybe it mean it will be an amazing movie.

then let me take your doubts away I went to see Cloverfield, the movie when "something huge" happened in New York. Just loved it, the way we experience the situation as we were there as wel. Rest assure i won't give any spoilers away but the only thing i can say is ; this movie is simply asking for a sequal.
