Hey, I just read the forum rules (d**n, I think I signed an agreement that I was OK with them, when registering), stating that the language used should be English. Hm. But a little above that, it says no discriminating is allowed. Now, I love using English, but many visitors to the site might not be so fluent in the language. This will discourage them from participating in discussions. Why can't everyone use their own language? And what if there's a post in a language you don't understand? Well, ignore it then. Just give everyone (not only the linguists) a chance to join in. I know, English is a good common language, but we are not all anglophiles. So, beware, I might just post something in Dutch, or French, how about a little Swahili? Yeah, I know, it's the rebel in me....

Hey, my (pretty civilised) curseword was reduced to "d**n". What about my basic human rights? Freedom of speech? I feel so f***ing violated...

A valid point, Mr. T., but this rule is imposed to us as well ... so not much choice there, I'm afraid ...

I know some fora that are visited by people from over the whole world, and they have a forum "your country" or something with a few topics such as Belgium, France, Netherlands, England,... Maybe this would be good for here as well? Greetz Draco PS: Good example you can find here, ffrom my favorite band: Kamelot Forum

Is the imposed rule that you cannot use profanity, or that you must post in English? I cannot imagine that the server would force you to use English in a Dutch country. Just curious....

We're not a Dutch country. We're a country which has three official languages. Although the majority of visitors of this forum are Dutch-speaking, there's also some French-speaking ones and those shouldn't be left out.

Well, Mr. T., both are imposed : no swearing and English as the main language for this board ...
Sorry, we can't do anything about it either !

As you could read in my initial post, I was actually standing up for ALL languages, my friend. And to be really correct, I'm not even Dutch, I just speak the lingo. So I was also standing up for our French-speaking friends who are not fluent in English. Silly me. Live long and prosper!

It's German...
The 3 official languages are Dutch, French and German (the eastern part of Belgium was only annexed as a punishment to the Gemrans after the first World War and was originally part of Germany)
