Hmm, bad news. I was looking forward to meet him.
How are the Chances that FACTS will find a replacement for him in this short time?

I agree with boloyeung iven if I understand organisers are not responsible to guest activity... Guest Must understand fans who have sometimes a unique to meet them! I'm a store manager in Puy de Dome (Auvergne - France, +700 km from Gand), I've choosen my unique 2 holidays weeks to come in Gand for the first time as soon as Marc Singer was announced! It was the reason of my coming... I was excited when I heard about Lou Ferrigno coming... bad luck, he's not coming... And now, Marc has cancelled.... I fell frutated and angry not with Facts organisers but with Actors who neglect fans. I'm a big fan of "V" and especially Marc Singer as Donovan... It's the second time he cancels!!! he had to find a way to come at least saturday or sunday...(kevin Sorbo will come saturday for exemple) i think I will not come In Gand this year unless another "V" actor or "Star wars" actor will come... I hope facts 2009 will be a success! last, sorry for my bad english, it was my first message... Yeah I agree, Any chances for Marc coming only saturday or sunday, pleaaaaaaaaaaase......

We're sure the FACTS team will find a good replacement actor for Marc Singer. They always manage to find the right person to please the fans. You can trust them

ok now that i have calmed down! will you guys at facts be inviting marc singer to next years F A C T S convention? or do you feel reluctant now this is the second year in a row he has let you down. i hope you can get him, unless the artists are ill they should not commit to these conventions, if suddenly they are offered an acting role/job and what i mean is, i am a DJ how would you like it, if i were booked to play at your wedding party, then 1 week before it, i decide to ring you and say, listen i'm sorry but i got a gig that is paying more money, you that's just not the done thing! in my opinion when an artist/actor signs a contract he surely must forfill unless he or she is unwell, not just because they have anothetr job, that may pay more money.... does everyone know where im coming from when i say this? anyway let's hope we can see marc singer at F A C T S 2010.

well the thing is, if you cancel on "one job to make money" for another "job that makes more money" then yes you get a bad reputation but if you "go to a convention and earn money from selling photos with an autograph" or actually "get a role in a movie and earn a lot more" then the choice is easily made Most actors consider conventions to be a (paid) holiday. They get to spend time with their fans, but it's all fun and games because the money they earn from cons is next to nothing compared to 'working', e.g. making movies. There are exceptions, and some actors prefer to stay at a con even though they get offered a role in some weird zero-budget B movie, and it also happens that an actor gets pulled off a convention by his/her agent. That said, a replacement for Singer is going to be somewhat difficult on such short notice. If they find someone, it will probably be someone who is already in the European area and has no trouble with extending their already planned convention visit. Making arrangements for guests to fly over from the US or Canada (and especially getting the money for that!) is harder than inviting someone from France, Germany or the UK.

People always seem to think that actors make a lot of money. That is wrong. Only "stars" make a lot of money, but most actors (including Singer) still have to go from one audition to another in the hopes of getting a job somewhere in between auditions. And yes, any acting job is well paid compared to what they pay people in a factory. The problem is that only few actors are employed all the time. And between jobs they have to make ends meet.
I know this because I'm a voice actor myself. I voice commercials and infomercials for radio and TV, corporate movies, video games, cartoons and whatever needs a voice. Sometimes for only half a day's work, I get paid 400 Euro (taxes and Belgian social contributions deduced). And yes, these are only Belgian rates. In the US they pay much more for the same amount of work. And most of you guys have to work a week or more for that amount of money. Only in my case after such a day I usually spend 2 or 3 weeks having no work at all.
Fortunately the jobs I get all have to be done during working hours, so there is never any danger of me not being able to host the FACTS Cosplay due to a job.
But let's not talk about me. Let's talk about the actors who are guests at FACTS. They all have a contract which says they can step out in case of illnes and in case they have an acting job. Acting jobs MUST take priority because that's their trade. And any acting job they get can generate more work because the pilot mey be picked up for a series or because the director loved working with the actors and will be using them again on another project. So any acting job they would refuse for the benefit of doing a convention can potentionally hurt their careers.
I'm sure they all feel it's nice to be with their fans, and it's nice to be paid for being with their fans. But if they have to say no to a job every time they're booked for a convention they will soon end up having no more jobs, no other income than what they make at conventions and no more fans because they haven't been in any interesting movies or series. And at that point they are no longer actors but autogram vendors. And would you really like people like Marc Singer to become that?

Someone from FACTS confirmed that Marc Singer had cancelled??? So disapointed but in that case i won't come like in the past.I will be here especially for Mark Singer (that is my point of vue but i respect all the guests), who i considered since i am young like Mike Donovan and a really great actor (yes i will do thousand miles only for him)... Hope he will be here or next year perhaps.
