Little Wolvie i agree with you with some points, but for a con where you could have seen George Perez , don't you think Tucci is [moderator's edit : inappropriate language] Not really. As BoomBoom already noted, it's often a question of taste. And no, I love George Pérez, and with al due respect to Mr. Tucci, I also think they are in a different league. But we had George a couple of years ago at F.A.C.T.S. (and before that, at Forbidden Zone). And while I wouldn't have minded seeing him again, I would rather meet somebody else who I haven't met before. In this case, that would be Mr. Tucci. So, instead of complaining about who I rather would have had as a guest star, I try to be happy with what I get. ;-)

Too bad you will not attend the convention.
You mentioned some comics dealers and retaillers who have been at the FACTS are great and suddenly FACTS loses your interest cause the artists are not interesting for you.
You can't say F.A.C.T.S. is not doing an effort to bring comic artists in the spot. - William Tucci was scheduled some years ago but cancelled. Many visitors were disappointed at the time and will be glad he's scheduled again. Let's hope we can schedule Joe Jusko again. - Pat Mills is an A player in the British comics industry and if your a real comic fan you have at least to admit this. Co-creator of Judge Dredd (the Ezquerra fans will be happy to reunite their Judge Dredd drawing with his signature), creator of Slaine (after Conan and Kull, the most famous barbarian) and famous for many other projects and his working on 2000AD. Sending him home is like refusing Jean Van Hamme or Jean Dufaux on a BD-convention. - Guile, you said yourself you saw him while waiting in the queu. Must be a popular artist then. Good enough for us. - Leroux, his drawings look very promising. Don't you think young talent should be given a chance to promote their stuff? - Lectrr, extreme popular cartoonist in the Flandres and the Netherlands. But even french Sc-fi lovers rave about him on their forums.

..do not know if I will go to facts (the who usually drives cancelled because nothing interests him either:( ...still hope to go though..
'You can't say F.A.C.T.S. is not doing an effort to bring comic artists in the spot.' ..in my opinion (again not wanting to sound rude) you did a bad job, if I compare with previous years (or other conventions). You should fire the guy that arranges these people (I could arrange more/better names).
I guess a LOT of comic freaks are very dissappointed:
Leroux: promising drawings?? ..that is a question of opinion/taste ..he is no professional ..just a guy who draws (I know many of them ..and much better) ..all in all he is no comic artist! -Guile: I was standing with him in a line to obtain a Dell'Otto piece (somewhere at a store signing in France). He is (also) no comic artist ..just a guy who likes to draw (and he isn't that good either...). ..but I guess these 2 will come for free or something..
Bill Tucci and pat Mills are defenitely names in the comic industry. But how interesting is pat Mills without a artist?? ..you mentioned Ezquerra, you should have invited him!!!!! ..or any other 2000AD/Judge Dredd/ Slaine artists (there are a lot of big and very small, but interesting, names there). ..why did you only invite Mills, does he have a new project or something?
The way I see it you have: 1 comic artist, Bill Tucci, but his time is long gone... (but he IS a comic artist, so that is o.k) and 1 comic book writer Pat Mills, but I haven't read anything decent in a long time from him (+ no suporting artsist) ..but he is also a name in the field.
the other 2 should be at a artist ally or something, but you can't call them comic artists! ..so this year only one artist and 1 writer ..that isn't a very good program for a con:(
In stead of trying to get a manga artist, try to get a decent comic artist (Germany, France, England and Italy have many!). But IF you get a manga artist, please get a professional! (by the way are there still manga fans, I thought the hype was already gone for a few years?)
All in all I think it is very sad news, Facts was a decent convention, but this is just cheap.. starting to look like a Dutch con:) Only 1 (pro) artist and 1 (pro) writer ..I am very dissappointed!!! If this is the way, you should make it a complete/full movie convention (seems like the money is spent more on the actors than on the comic part)...

well Mr.facts said this: More artists? We have already more artists than last year. We'll still try to have a mangaka or at least an European manga artist on the show to complete the artistlist. ..so I guess no more comic artists this year I just recieved a eMail from a fellow comic/art collector. He told me that he was visiting Facts for several years in a row, but he is doubting he will go to this one. He had a good point: Italy, U.k, Germany, France and Belgium have been building a very decent comic field the last few years. Italy and the U.K have gotten a lot of new, good artist (and writers), the conventions are starting to get bigger and more interesting, more exhibitions and store signings, even interesting publisher's rise (like Soleil). Europe is starting to become a serious competition for the U.S. In this year people like Ted McKeever, Arthur Suydam, Eric Powell (or was that last year), George Pratt, Baron Storrey, Bilal and (soon) Ashley Wood have been visiting Belgium (not to speak of who has been in France ,Italy or the U.K this year). Belgium is playing quite a big role in this... but the way Facts is handeling the comic aspect this year is sad ..I am used to Dutch conventions being so cheap in this stuff, but not from the Belgian art lovers....

You guys have no idea how much effort goes into organizing FACTS. True, the comic line-up this year is not my taste either, but it's so easy to complain. For a measly 8 euros, you get tons of stuff on FACTS, actors, cosplay events, and still you want more. You are certainly entitled to your opinion, and I'll defend your right to express it, but really. If I had a Euro for every time somebody said he could do better than FACTS, you'd all be calling me Mr. Cash.

I hate being negative (defenitely on a forum). My comments were not to bash the Facts, I had a great time the previous years. But I just do not think that it is fair that they were going to announce 3 comic artists (next to Tucci), and they come up with one writer and 2 amateurs/ non proffessional 'artists' (who nobody heard of). If they told this before I bought my early bird ticket, then that was o.k ..but making a fuss (saying that they are going to announce the 3 comic artists) over nothing is cheap in my eyes! + they could easely get some better/ little bit more known artists! ..I do not like to be negative and I indeed have no idea what kind of effort goes into organizing a convention. But I have always been positive about Facts and I think I have a right to express my dissappointments about this years program... ..was looking forward to the convention, and now I have to leave my frustrations/ dissapointments somewhere

No problem buddy the choice is yours, but Comics Artists..............Lille 2006 see what i mean ?!! Yeah, and the San Diego Comic Con had Todd McFarlane, and Patrick Stewart, and tons of A-list artists and actors. How come Lille doesn't have those names? Belgium doesn't have the names France gets, and France doesn't get the names the US gets. The bigger the country => more fans =>bigger budget => the bigger the names that convention can present. Should FACTS ever reach a 20.000 attendance rate, you can expect big names the year after. It all boils down to $$$$$$$$$.

Last year Belgium had Eric Powell, Arthur Suydam, Ted McKeever, Baron Storrey, George Pratt, Bilal and (in december) Ashley Wood ..that is quite a list of big names! But the belgium conventions are always better than the Dutch cons (they haven't had a decent comic artist in years).

"How come Lille doesn't have those names?"
Yeah !!! I will let you McFarlane no problem 'cause he do only signings, how many bucks spend for nothing, should try with Quesada they're on the same league. I like signings but sketches are more interesting. By the way have you seen something published by Todd lately...(10 years ago maybe). But i think Adi Granov is more interesting than McFarlane, he's working on something big, should read more about him, something called Iron Man and Iron Man movie, see ,movie like Patrick Stewart. Sure pal about authors i could get... Warren Ellis , Mark Millar , Simon Bisley ,Humberto Ramos ,John Cassaday and Bryan Hitch....can you ? Yeah! sure money money ,see, you delete Tucci and i can give you Ramos. Your choice perhaps, but what the fans will prefer...a has been or star ?

Taking people for fools or ignorants are your way for not understanding something true. Your loss !! You could have someone interesting for your convention, and the only reply is Tucci is the god of independant comics so some else is impossible to get. Ok ,sure a lot a fans will appreciate your insightfull toughts. By the way, are the others professionals in the business...?

Whouahh !!! splendid reply couldn't have done better... A great mark of intelligence for sure !! Peut être qu'en français tu comprendrais mieux? Pas de problème, mon chèr. Auf Deutsch auch nicht. Of in het Nederlands! I'm fluent in four languages. Just one last remark before I put a final end to this pointless bickering: I'm wondering: if you're so well-connected, why did you send me a personal mail on this forum asking for the list of dealers on FACTS? (twice, for that matter) Let's agree to disagree OK? I regret have started this "conversation" anyway.... Mr. FACTS: you can delete this entire thread as far as I'm concerned....

Mr. FACTS: you can delete this entire thread as far as I'm concerned.... I'm not going to delete it, but I'm going to lock it, since this is going nowhere and is creating a bad atmosphere. Everybody is entitled to have his or her own opinion and if you don't like our choice of guests, that is your right, but there's no point in stating it over and over and over again. End of (this) story. P.S. Toyzilla : you got a PM !
