I'm going to Castlefest tomorrow and on sunday. (it's in Lisse, above Amsterdam) Not sure if convention is the right word though... It's more of a medieval-style gathering, and they have medieval meals and loads of fantasy/gothic stuff for sale. www.castlefest.nl There is a sort of trailer there with the impression of last year. I loooove the medieval music so I'll be sure to have a blast there and I'll be back to bother you all on monday. ^^

next year me and my wife are going to Dutch Star Con in the netherlands i have heard that is also a BIG Convention It's not. Like the New Star Con, the Dutch Star Con mainly concentrates on guest stars and therefore is very expensive, but also able to provide better names. But in regard to dealers, they're awfully small. there also was a con, HYPERCON planned for april this year but the date was changed to june but it got cancelled or something ... haven't heard of it since Yes. It was organised by Lavera Events NV, with the help of our Belgian Costume Division. Lavera Events has a concession on the use of the Florahallen in Aalst, but ultimately, they had to cancel Hypercon because of a political discussion between Aalst City and the owner of the Florahallen. A discussion which apparentely still is going on, effectively blocking several planned events which had been planned there, including Hypercon. As the Hypercon-concept had everything FACTS had, and more, including guest stars like Michael Shanks, Christopher Judge and Cliff Simon, an expanded games corner for both console and board games, expanded catering, a global charity action, a large focus on several fan activities,... it is a shame this has ultimately been put into the fridge. However, it is true that the core group from Lavera still wants to do this event. They are now looking to get their other events back on the road (now that they have lost the location for those as well). Once that gets solved, they'll look into their new event Hypercon again. A lot will obviously depend on finding a new location, new sponsors and such. Which indeed means Hypercon will most likely return in 2009, or 2010 if no available halls can be found soon enough. But it also means it may change name. Anyway, the idea and concept isn't dead yet. BCD is also waiting for news from the organiser Lavera, to get that show on the road again.

it surely looked promesing as a new convention and it still does, i knew bcd was involved so that gave me some more trust in the fact it could be a nice con and the april date was kind of perfect (februari and april are still the the best months to hold cons in belgium as it leaves enough space between facts and another convention and because it normally are the most fitting months for students) but then when it was told to be rescheldueled to june that was either way rather stupid since its so close to the exams of most students i also had heard about the issues preventing this con to hold place wich is to bad i'm really hoping this convention will get on its feet again preferably in april or februari that is

OK, that is well said, but you have to experience it, I 've been there every time and the fun there is every time very good. Like I do with FACTS, seen them all, been there always. NEVER missed one !, OK, you can call me a real CON-B.I.T.C.H. !!!

I got a nice piccie of Castlefest to share. This one was taken yesterday with the people of Dreuzels.com that were on Castlefest. I'm the girl in the middle, in the blue/turquoise outfit, in front of me is my friend Stefanie aka Puss in Boots, who will be dressing up as Ty Lee and the guy besides me is gonna come to FACTS too, as a Storm Trooper one day and as the Blue Spirit from Avatar the other day. ^^ Some of the others will be popping up as well.

Yeah, he made the outfit himself and it looked really great. He was also wearing chainmail, which wheighed about 8,5 kilograms. And his helmet was very heavy and warm too.

I'll do my very best. So far, I think I've been able to convince ten of my friends to come. The good thing is that most of my friends like the stuff I like, so obviously FACTS too.

OMG! Sunday I went to Animagic and it was amazing! If you ever want to see a big convention that's crowded with cosplayers, go to Animagic! I think only 5% of the visitors wasn't a cosplayer! It's so much fun! And, the Germans really are amazing cosplayers, their level there is very high! We should learn from them! :3
