Julie M. Benz was born on May 1, 1972 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After graduating from high school, Benz entered New York University to study acting. After graduation, she moved to Los Angeles where two weeks after, she obtained a bit part in a 1994 episode of Married... with Children. Her first movie role was a small speaking part in "The Black Cat" segment of the Dario Argento/George A. Romero horror movie Two Evil Eyes (1990). In 1996, she auditioned for the role of Buffy Summers in the series Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997), but lost out to Sarah Michelle Gellar. She was offered the role of the vampire Darla in several episodes and reprised this role in the Buffy spin-off series Angel. From 2006 to 2010 she played Rita Bennett in the popular series Dexter for which she won the 2006 Satellite Award for Best Supporting Actress and the 2009 Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actress. She also had recurring roles in the series Roswell, Desperate Housewives and No Ordinary Family. Her film roles include Rambo, Saw V and Punisher: War Zone and The Boondock Saints II. In 2013, she plays the lead female role, Amanda Rosewater, in the new science fiction series Defiance.       |

I haven't started with Defiance, but she's great in The Boondock Saints II. So this is a great start indeed for this year's line-up of actors and actresses.

So I will watch it when I somehow find some time between my other series I watch. |

I gasped... out of sheer surprise when I saw the anouncement on the FB-page. I was like *zoinks* "OMG!! Julie Benz will be at FACS!" ... "But hang on, she's in Defiance...." -- which I love btw -- "...when's season 2 being filmed?"
Cause Defiance was already renewed for a second season. Yay!
Maybe I should just ask her on twitter ... she should bring Jaime Murray with her, those two together are a blast.
