F.A.C.T.S. 2013 was a great succes. An edition worthy of its 20 years of existence and one to remember for a long time.
This success is also due to the many social media which are nowadays used.
For its first 10 years, the people behind F.A.C.T.S. had to talk to visitors on the show itself, in shops and other festivals to know about their wishes.
The FACTS-Forum got launched in october 2003, a couple of years later the first FACTS-website. At that time it was the only platform for visitors to discuss about their favourite festival and for us to get your opinion. Many lively discussions were held about FACTS-related movies & television show. Ideas & suggestions about costumes to be worn on the festival were shared. contest were held. Many of your precious goods found new owners.
Everyone started as a FACTS noob and could work themselves up to a FACTS Sensei or even the FACTS Extra-Terrestrial Sensei (which only 2 forummers reached). The Force was strong. A special subgroup on the forum, the N.U.R.D.'z (It's the NEW UNIVERSAL REUNION, DUDE!) saw its existence in 1997 for those forummers who wanted to show your hardcore-ness and dedication to nerd- and geekdom at FACTS. It was also a means to get to know each other better than just on the Forum. And those who have been a Nurd will always recognize their fellow Nurd on a future FACTS-edition.
But the social media change very quickly. Facebook conquered rapidly the world. The FACTS-convention-facebook page (which you can visit even without a Facebook account) and the twitter account got launched. In the the beginning of Facebook, the Forum still gathered more than 100.000 pageviews in the months of september/october of 2009 and 2010.
In 2013, while lots of time was still spent on the Forum with annoucements of all the guests, the Force was not that strong anymore and only a fraction found its way last year in october. At times not even a handful of forummers were active.
Of course you can blame Facebook for that. And sure Facebook has its flaws but no one will argue the facts that it reaches more people with a guest announcement, an idea, a news item... then the Forum ever did.
Yes, much more time could be spend more on the series,movies, the cartoons, the games to become a more active forum during the year, but it's still the same FACTS-team as 10 years ago and you all know FACTS isn't anymore.
So, the FACTS-team decided that it isn't the effort anymore to spend more time in this Forum.
Let's focus the Force and the passion on making future FACTS editions better and get bigger in style.
The whole FACTS-team hereby wishes to thank every forummer (1690 in total) for their precious time on the Forum. A special thanks goes to the Top-5 forummers : grievous444, hadesgod1, Finn, cartoonjessie & latexstrawberry (out of which 2 have become FACTS-volunteers).
We still have a small present to our loyal forummers. The big FACTS 2013 posters, which were put behind the actors, are given away to you. Just reply on this thread with your fondest memory you had on the forum. First come, first served. Priority is given to forummers who posted in 2013. These can then be collected at the artist booth at FACTS 2014.

i enjoyed it as long as it was here. It was nice to chat a little about the cosplay sometimes and have a talk to some people.
