OH GOD WHO CARES If you can't tak e few lighthearted jokes or some criticism, you shouldn't be cosplaying in front of a large crowd methinks... It's not like suddenly there's a horde of anti-cosplay folk chasing you trough the streets trying the ol' tar and chicken-feathers on you every time you step outside. The argument that has been used by the cosplaying-community many times "if you don't like what you see, then don't bother looking" can be used on these kind of sites. Don't bother looking at them, let them have their 5-second impotent-dumbass happy moment, before resuming their dull cynical little lives.

You're maybe partly right and partly wrong. the thing is, it's just plain good manners to ask if you want to post a person's picture on an official review site, and even more not to put anything degrading on there. On the other hand, the guy put a pic of himself up there too, and he looked like a dim-witted gamefanatic to me. What bothers me most about people like this is that in the end, they're just plain jealous they're afraid to do the same (or are unable to put a costume together), but are able to put their opinion on sites like those, that are read by hundreds of people who now think "oooh, EA was so great to invite John Rhys-Davies and those poor little freaks at FACTS got to buy his autograph because we got him to come here". That's wat he implies in his text. If you really want to put your opinion out there, make sure you get all your facts (pun ) straight before you go writing something for an official review.

That's no problem for me to be considered as a "freak" (I'm the X-Wing guy on the second picture, and all those but one on this pic are 501st BG members, but I'm only speaking for myself in this post... I don't really know if I'm trolling or so, but that's not my goal, only telling MHO...) when I look who's talking... Sadly enough, some persons don't know what "respect" is, and I don't do SW cosplaying and stuff for those... I don't even care about 'em, it doesn't matter... I rather do it for myself (sounds pretty egocentric, huh? ), cosplaying is for my own fun... and also for the guys and gals who respect (even if they don't necessarily like it) the work done for a costume. That's all for me, it won't refrain me from sleeping to know there's someone lacking respect about me, he's only have to take a ticket and go queueing like the rest of those who have a grief against me ;D

I repeat, I don't give a d**n about personal pages and such, it's publications. Right now there's a great example in France in Max Magazine,a bit the french equivalent of P-Magazine here. At the con Epita a few girls got their picture taken and a brief interview. The girls knew they'd be published, but never got to see the article before it was printed. What they saw was their picture in an article titled "Sex in Japan" with their words twisted to make them look like exhibitionists very *friendly* persons who love it when men drool over their scantily clad bodies. (one of them was cosplaying an 8-year old girl btw)

@ telenetgames report i think the prob was that the guy who wrote the thing and made the pics doesnt really know the concept COSPLAY as he notes on the other pics "freaks". he falls under the "ignorence is bliz" type of ppl.
note that cosplay is still in its babyshoes in belgium and most ppl are small minded so this will resulte in unrespectfull remarks. *still feels the pain from wearing his Startrek uniform few years back*

Well to continue about the real topic: dressing rooms, even if they are just cloths hanging on ropes!!!!
And possibility for bags 'n stuff.
And a cosplay contest that can be appreciated more by the crowd. I was in the crowd last year and I could barely see it. I don't know if a room has been rented for Q&A but maybe you can take the same room to make a real contest.
I'm bringing a large group of cosplayers of France. They were disappointed by the organisation last year. This year they willbe getting dressed at my house and leaving their stuff at my place, but it would be really good if they could see that - if they came back on sunday - they could do all that at the con itself. Idem for the contest
I still believe in facts, in contrary to what some people believe, I just give some advise, without wanting to get involved. I still bring nice people to facts, don't I?

well, as a long time facts visitor myself, heck, i am making the trip back from the middle east (where I live) to attend this years FACTS, I would like to ask some courtesy of the cosplayers in a "different way" please do not be offended by my request but can cosplayers please chose something that fits their body build ? I know not everyone has the body build they want, heck I am oversized as well, but please, some cosplayers do need better taste (read that as TACT). I am a big fan of nekomusume and her cosplays, she is truely amazing, yet last facts, I saw at least 4 cosplayers that made me shiver.... Cosplay can be so nice and very pretty, yet some ppl .... my favourite cosplay every year is the guy from Antwerp dressing up like godzilla

Me and my friends are planning to make the 1-1/2 hour trip already in costume! It should be a lot of fun to see half the FF8 squad and some Star Wars characters sitting together in a train . Why not? Of course, this isn't possible if you're driving a car dressed as a Gundam.

Waw, nice! Where will you you put the tickets and stuff? Uhmm.. I wanted to ask somthing. I'll come as Yuna from FF10, but I haven't got a Guardian... Say, is somebody coming as a guardian? You know, Rikku, Wakka, Lulu, Auron, Tidus or even Kimahri? I can't imagine a summoner without a guardian, so somebody?

Guess you missed a year 'cause last year we had one of your guardians... without a summoner. It was Auron. I don't know if he'll be there again this year and if he is, whether he'll wear the same costume. I do know there's someone from our group who will be there the whole weekend, with two costumes from FFX-2: Yuna gunner and Yuna singer.

well, since it is now closing in, maybe another word on the dressing rooms on the site of the dutch costume club European-Kamino, we've been having some talk about the dressing rooms (for me, I doubt it would be a problem, since I can easily change in the hotel, my costumes aren't that cumbersome to walk with) From what has been said on our forum by Serge, the dressing rooms this year seem to be fixed I just have one more idea: how about having a number of people taking shifts at guarding the changing room, to make sure nobody goes rummaging through other people's stuff?

Ben, those dressing rooms are reserved for the fan clubs, not regular visitors. As such they are guarded by people of the clubs at all times.

wow, this dressing-room- issue is quite big. As this will be my first year as a cosplayer, I also planned to show up in costume. I'll be on a train and wandering around in costume on my way to facts as well. b.t.w.: if anybody calls you a freak, wear that tittle with pride and honour.

Heh, don't worry too much about that. Last year, I had to go pick up sandwiches for our group in a bakery that's two blocks away. Since I was busy all the time with guiding our people in the correct directions and manning the stand, I didn't have much time for that errand and definately no time to change into civilian clothes. So I had to do it, in my stormtrooper costume. On my way, some Dutchies pulled their car over... to ask me directions to the SMAK.

Simply put for me, I don't care that much!
They take a picture, say something stupid about it, with their stupid brains, and all other people wh othink it's stupid will call it stupid, and people who admire you, will think the one whp put something stupid underneath it IS stupid... catch mu drift... Why should we care what a stupid person thinks, as long as the people who like it support us.. You can't have everyone liking it!
Although last time someone tried to make a up-skirt picture, while I was wearing a mini-skirt... (not even that mini) I think it's generally known that THAT IS sexual harassment, and next time I'll kick his nuts the other way around!
Ah yes... I haven't had any trouble with changing in the toilets... they're clean! (kudos for the toilet lady\man) But I don't want to hold the toilets for the ones who DO need to go! -_-;
Last year dressing rooms? I haven't heard of any? And I was cosplaying! Maybe an idea to have the person who sell tickets tell the cosplayers where to go, if they want to change! ^_^;
My two cents

I've been thinking... wouldn't it be possible for facts to rend lockers?? You know, the kind of lockers you put a coin in and you just have to keep the key with you...
About the picture-taking-asking. This year was the first time I went to facts and wanted to take pictures of the cosplayers but was too shy.. Then I just gathered all my courage, walked up to harunosakura and asked if I could be in the picture with her. You can't believe how happy I was when she said yes!! So, after we took the picture I was no longer nervous and my friend, my brother and I went bishie hunting!!! ;D

I never had someone yel at me to BUZZ OFF when i asked for a picture well i knew nothing of how people would respond etc, since it was my first con, and looking back i know there was nothing to worry about in the first place.cosplayers that dress up and don't want pictures taken are idiots aren't they? why bother dressing up and getting all that stuff when you don't wanna show it? (srry if anyone disagrees, it's my opinion, be free to comment on it)

I don't think that i've ever met any cosplayer that didn't had his picture taken. IF you find any cosplayer who had not one single picture taken of him i'll be you a drink
