I don't know about other people on FACTS but I suggest you make the entire convention a non-smoking area except for some designated places. Some vendors weren't too happy that some ashes fell on there stuff. It's also too crowded to go walking around with a sigaret in your hands. I know that smokers will make all kind of excuses why they should be allowed to smoke, but I don't care.

sounds like a good idea.
I believe it's rude to smoke in an area where it's supposed to be smoke free like in the projections room, saw some people smoking when there was an q&a with David Carradine, It kinda disturbed me, it shows no respect for others. if the people can't wait to smoke, just go outside take your smoke with you so that the other people don't have to complain about it

Yeps, I couldn't agree more. Even though the whole room was well ventilated, I could smell the smoke on my clothes when I returned home.
Smoking should only be allowed in well designated areas, like the cantina for example, or outside (since it seems you can go outside for awhile and get back in without having to pay again).

I could be mistaken, but isn't the ICC a building where you are not allowed to smoke at all?

I don't mind people smoking (as long as they're downwind ;D) but in such a warm and crowded place as the convention, it's quite annoying.

HEY don't blame me if there's smoke coming out of my ears when Richard Hatch and Robert Englund have arrived at FACTS and not to forget those magnificent cosplayers especially some from the X-men

Yep, no smoking in the building. If they want to smoke they must go outside. Or maybe an area for smokers.

I remember a comicbookdealer in 2004. He had all these overpriced comics and even still in Franks! And he was smoking near me...
I was intrested in some comics but his smoking was like a sign "move along!! nothing to see" ...
So I did...

..well In say smoke 'm if you got them I always dislike these conversations (because I am a smoker:) A lot of people smell nasty (or stink) in warm convention halls. There are people with t-shirts drowned in sweat, nerds that don't seem t take a shower, girls with extremely odered hairsprai, smelly parfumesm, people eating warm food, etc. I understand that smoke in your face is annoying & smoking over items is very rude ..but there are worse oders than a bit of tabacco...

true. but adding smoke to the mix is just a bad thing Seriously though...smoking (besides being a filthy habit my wife also has a taste for) is something extra and intentional that goes beyond the examples you presented and it CAN be separated from the other mentioned things by just simply remove that aspect alltogether. And the general consensus IS that smoking is BAD for you and with inhaling other smoke the consensus is similar...and that is just NOT the case for perfume, hairspray or unwashed nerds who never came near deodarant in their life!! Despite the general consensus being wrong though (read the essay on smoking at www.joejackson.com ) you just do not go against health issues!

Unfortunately, this argument is pretty much a red herring: none of the examples given are bad for your health and also none of them have laws against them. Smoking does. Why bring this discussion up anyway? The ICC is a public building. It is forbidden to smoke inside public buildings. You can jump up and down, shouting murder death kill all you want... that's what the law says. Period.
