Well, we've been playing with the idea of organising a kind of party to spend the Saturday night during the FACTS weekend.
What do you think ? Would this be a welcome addition to your FACTS experience or do you consider this to be completely unnecessary ?
Let us know.
And of course, all suggestions are welcome as well !

Would be great! With Face as guest the tune of The A-team would be a great topper ^_^. Hopefully it will be some music for everybody and not just some stupid Techno party or something...

could be a great idea. not all the night of course, but why not a garden party in the park ? (with all stands and merchandising, I dont imagine that inside ICC...) will it be with BBQ ? a party with cos ? maybe possible if it's inside (outside with cos depends of weather). there is another inside area just next to the cos clubs area from last year isnt it ? (just a few ideas...)

With a bit of extra work, this could be a superb idea. - Add a BBQ or other meal, as suggested. - Maybe combine this with some movie projections. Give the people a choice.

It's a great idea! ;D But I don't think it's necessary to go do any crazy stuff... Just a party with drinks and good music, maybe let cosplayers in for free to put an accent on the theme (the only way to cover costs on a party is the booze anyways).
But indeed, don't overdo it on the Star Trek themes, they're already used a lot...

I'm all in favour, but is anything happening in this direction? Do we need to organise a room in a dance café or such? Can we find a DJ (my brothr-in-law is one but he usuallyplays R-n-B, so someone will need to brinng the music If he wants to play)

Well, Beoran, quite honestly I don't think we'll be able to organise something ourselves for this year (the preparation of the con itself takes waaaaaay too much already !), but, seeing that people are interested indeed, if you could foresee something, we just might give you our backing - and thus create the 'semi-official' FACTS party ... - which should help you attract quite a few people. Send me a private message and/or an e-mail at factsvisitors@hotmail.com to discuss this further ok ? Thanks.

Ok, everybody, let's tru to do it, but let's HURRY! I can't do this completel by myself.
I asked my brother-in law and he wants to be the DJ, but we stll need the following: * And idea of how many people will come. My estimate is 42. * A cafe or dance room to organize the party. * Music. My B-I-L has mostly RnB and Hosue, so you will al need to bring your own FACTS Themed music with you! * Big loudspeakes and an amplificator. My B-I-L has some equipment, but no heavy loudspeakers nor a strong amplificator. * Billboards and some promotion to indicate where the party wil be. * Someone to take care of security. * Based on the costs, we need to decide wether we will ask for an entry fee or not.
Who will help me? Select a task. I'll already call around in Gent tomorrow. Who is interested in helping me organise this party, please contact me by private message here, or on bub@linuxmail.org, or by contacting e-Mino (if that's OK by him?). I'll send my real e-mail address to him.

Ok, I've found a place that's still available. But, I need to put up a €100 from my own pocket. Everything will depend on the income of the pub. If they self or over €1000 euro of drinks (that's about 70-100 visitors) , then i get my money back. If there are less sales, I'll only get it back partially or not at all. So, I need a respone form you people. Are you goig to come to the party. It's in a room not far rom the congress center, and it starts at 22h00.
I also need to hear if the people of FACTS (and other people) will support me, and help me promote this party. I've already designed a small A4 (cheap to copy, no seal tax) promotional card.
I also need music! If you people don't help me and don't bring your own music, you'll only get RnB!

If you are looking for good game themed music at parties, I suggest you look in the archive of Overclocked Remixes (www.ocremix.org). They have remixed game themes of all kinds of games, from Tetris to FF to Zelda, and some of them really rock! ;D Zelda 2 Temple Trance Mix anyone?

Partying in costume ís indeed fun (although hot as well, depending on what costume you wear).
Is there any news on a FACTS party?
