Currently we are working around the clock to get everything ready for FACTS. What can you expect to see from us this year?
- The Jabba Palace: you've seen it grow the last two years, but now our Prospectors squad will present you with the full Palace set, complete with throne and alcoves, Gamorreans and much more new costumes.
- The R2-builders: each year, these craftsmen present you with the latest in droid-design. R2-D2 and his brethren will once again roam the Fan Village.
- Enough Star Wars, let's take a look at some other big franchise: Stargate! This year, we will present you with a large promotion of this sci-fi show. And when I say large, I do mean LARGE. Not only will we bring accurate SG1 and Atlantis uniforms, we will present you with a few other nifty things as well...
- Charity: BCD will actively engage itself for charity during the course of next year, but for FACTS we will already present you with a petition we support. The petition is to get (partial) refunds from RIZIV, for breast reconstructions using own tissue, after amputation. The petition sheets to sign can be found at our info stand, right in between the Jabba Palace and the R2-builders. No donations are involved: signing the petition is completely free!
- Costume panels: so how do we do the stuff we do? How come we present top-notch quality costumes and not the karnival-types you can easily encounter? How to avoid spending money on low-quality costumes, bad dealers, recasters and the like? How to obtain that quality costume you've always wanted? Well, for the first time on FACTS, we will tell you how! Both days at 12.00, we will present a costume panel, in which we'll explain how to obtain some of the most popular sci-fi costumes in existence. On Saturday, we will provide explanations about Star Wars stormtroopers and Imperial Officer costumes. The presentation will be given by Stefan Cembolista, who's built over 50 (!) stormtroopers over the course of his lifetime. On Sunday, the panel will handle Stargate costumes, both from SG1 and from Atlantis. This panel will be hosted by myself. Both panels will allow you to ask questions and more info can of course always be obtained at our stand.
- And then there's individual members who will present you their own new creations. You will be able to meet a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle in person, as well as Freddy Kreuger and many more celebrities. You may also get chased by a very vicious alien...
So be sure to bring your camera, for we will bring you lots of stuff to photograph! We hope to see many folks at the costume panels and we also hope to gather a number of autographs for our petition, as you may never know when breast cancer hits you, or one of your family members.
