On FACTS, the dealer rooms can't be sealed off permanently anyway. There's elevators, escalators, stairs going down directly to the halls. One security guard won't cut it and posting more guards ups the total costs a lot. Just because the rooms cannot be sealed off I got the idea of the badges, and volunteers won't be that costly, do they?

hi, it's the fifth time that i come to Facts and still so great. one little thing is missing. this year, i came to Gent by car and, coming from Namur (namen) without GPS, there is no signalization, no informations to reach the ICC center when you come from the speedway. we lost 45 minutes trying to find our way in the city thru the ICC center. so, next year, PLEASE leave some roadsigns that can be very helpful. one other thing: please, please, please, don't close so soon the Facts (17 hours it's very soon). why don't do a special event on saturday until 23 hours (special party, projections, etc) and the next day start at 9.30 thru 19??

on the main site of facts is always an easy how to get there explanation so nobody get's lost.
i can understand your frustrations because gent isn't always easy to drive to but. the icc it self is simple to reach take the exit at merelbeke drive straight then you will arrive under a bridge take a left turn here and from there on when you drive straigt on you see the big park where the icc is located.
i do not have a gps either, but before i go somewhere where i haven't been before or where i do not often go to , i always print out a map of the area or use an online routing site like mappy to calculate my route. That way i never lose time, and i'm always the first to arrive.

Heheee That's so true! Every time we came to FACTS by car, we got totally lost in Gent. We keep on missing the right exit... Coming by train is so much simpler, it's two streets away!

Oh, I have a little suggestion... I kinda have problems with the stamps we get when we enter facts.. I change in and out of costumes multiple times and I wore clothers over my stamp and after a while it started to dissapear.. so maybe, just maybe, you could consider using bracelets as a proof you paid at the entrance? (kinda like the festival wristbands) It would be much easier to hide (because cosplay with a stamp isn't really fun) and people don't have to be scared the stamp will fade...
PS: I'm very sorry for my bad english right now, but I'm having problems to keep my eyes open... (yesh, I totally blame facts for it XD)

true they do get off. band would be easier for us but more expensive for the facts team. Perhaps only wristbands for the cosplayers? and your english is not bad, i know mine is :s even when i'm not sleepy. i hope you rest well miss

The stamps are a bit of a problem, I cosplayed Demyx this year, so I wore gloves, they were short but still got in the way. Seeing as how I already know who I'll be going as next year, I also know I'll have a big problem then, as I'll be wearing long gloves, not to mention two sets on top of each other.

The stamps are a problem indeed, I wore gloves to this year and there was only one spot available for the stamp...

One security guard won't cut it and posting more guards ups the total costs a lot. There is a thing called volunteers. Its not like you need fully armed cops, like 3-4 people with checklists would work fine. If foreign cons can do much bigger things with longer times and such things, why cant we? Is it the ICC that is being in the way, then I wouldn't mind saying bye bye to it. I mean, AX in america is 3 days, 24/24 open

The ICC is indeed a good location, but when it comezs to using the elevators, they suck hard. By closing the elevators on staerday they left me on the first floor for hours, until one of the elevators was opend up. So I lost mush time. And to think i pointed that out BEFORE the event even started !!! The ramp was for my cha

Another suggestion
Never ever put a gaming competition and cosplay competition on the same hour
Also why the hell did you guys turn off the lights, pictures and movies were impossible because of those.
Also it might be best to look for announcers that can pronounce names, because sometimes I just felt like slapping myself.
And please tell the french announcer to stop yelling, it hurts D:
I whine alot I know

^^
I agree with the gaming competition and the lighting issue (although a lot of people came to me on saturday telling me that the lighting was good).
With regard to the presentator: those people are doing a great job and you can't expect them to know every manga/anime/sci-fi character, so I am asking you guys to be a little lenient on that matter. We will try to do some briefing next year to avoid mispronounciations.

Please do, because sometimes I really wanted to kill somebody for the raping of names. I have no problems witht he french woman, only she yells too loud En het licht was enorm lastig www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSl6ngNUDGUge ziet ze enkel door de cameras en dat is jammer

yeah, I concur that the lighting was good for the audience because it created a certain atmosphere, but it was clearly really bad for people who were taking pictures or filming the cosplay or shows.

About the stamps: I'd rather have stamps, cause there's no way I can hide a bracelet in my costume and the stamp stays on nicely, though... Wouldn't there be better ink available for the 'stamp makers' ?? Or give cosplayers special stamps...? I can't imagine there are lots of people in normal clothing with gloves

More horror like Bruce Campwell and longer only star wars actors. Otherwise you name it the star wars confention.
Star Wars is cool, but there are more actors then that.
Like Jeffrey Combs from Re-Animator Rie Inou- from Ringu

Don't forget that those SW actors come because of the many SW organisations that attend FACTS.

a suggestion for a guest star, one of the most famous actors known to anyone that has played at least a few games
Joseph Kucan
known from the entire Command & Conquer franchise since a large portion of the visitors of Facts have also played at least a few games (and since the games section of the convention keeps getting bigger) i think it'd be a wise choice to try and get one of the absolute icons of gaming to the convention
personally, i think he'd attract a LOT of attention and fans
but that's just me (and just about any somewhat experienced gamer i know ^^)

She will attract also many people. Gamers and non-gamers. If you now what I mean. i now, it's impossible. Just a joke. ;D

If foreign cons can do much bigger things with longer times and such things, why cant we? WELL... do not forget where are talking about a NON-PROFIT organisation, run totally by volunteers. we are doing what we can with what we got and will get...also monetarilly speaking!
